Ten Signs You Need To Stop & Spiritually Recharge: Part One

Ten Signs You Need To Stop & Spiritually Recharge: Part One

Spiritual burnout is not only common in the Christian movement, but it is also easily obtainable. When passion is lost, it opens up a space for mediocre effort in ministry. Here are five signs you need to stop, reflect, and recharge.

Dreading the day

II Corinthians 12:9 King James Version

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

When the excitement for a new day is lackluster, there is a problem. Each day is a God-given adventure. Each person you meet is another oppurtunity to be a light to this world. When fresh chances no longer motivate you, ask yourself why.

Procrastination

Ecclesiastes 11:4 KJV

He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap.

Prioritizing tasks has become a lost art. Our brains are slowly becoming geared toward everything being a top priority. On the other side of the spectrum, people have an incredible desire to procrastinate. Putting things off until the last minute is the new norm and it shows. The quality that was once there is lost. You can definatey tell when something was prepared in the oven and when food was zapped in the microwave. Produce oven-quality content when it comes to your ministry.

Inability to focus

Proverbs 16:3 KJV

Commit thy works unto the Lord, and thy thoughts shall be established.

When the smallest things grab your attention, it is time to take step back. That's why is is so impartive to start your days with a prioritized list of tasks. It helps you stay on track and fulfill your sense of purpose.

Irratability

Proverbs 29:11 KJV

A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards

Social media has a very unique way of making us feel irratable. All the content you consume is funneled through gleaned knowledge and past experience. So if you sense everyone is getting married and having babies- they are. That is why social media fasts are commom now more than ever. We become engulfed in the lives of others and irratability ensues. Take a step back, enjoy nature, and get back to you.

Anxiety

Matthew 6:34 KJV

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.

Anxiety has the ability to become the more powerful consumer of all. What many fail to realize is, axiety thrives in the realm of thing that have not happened yet. When a teenage son borrows his parents car for the first time, anxiety is prominent. "Who is he picking up? Where is he going? What time will they arrive at their destination?" These self-inflicted questions can worry parents to no end. The key to anxiety is to simply breathe and remember our God is intentional and whatever happens now or in the near future is no surprise to Him.
