How To Stay Positive In A Negative World

How To Stay Positive In A Negative World

No one actually says, "Look on the dark side..." but we all do it. It is easy to fall into the trap of negativity because it draws us closer together as human beings. Negativity and gossip make our current shortcomings seem a little less stressful. You have to stop, pause, and mentally search for the good in situations, and that requires more effort. Here are four ways to bring down the negative energy around you and start looking on the bright side.

Turn off negative news

It is crucial to keep up with what is happening around you, but too much negative information could begin to affect your spirit. Take a break from news outlets, new apps, and radio. Watch and listen in moderation, and trust God during times of difficulty.

Meditate on God's Word

Do not just read the Bible for devotional "points"; meditate in God's Word. Slowly and intentionally consume it like fresh bread. The enemy will try to flood your thoughts with lies and negativity. The best way to combat this is to dwell and absolutely know what The Word says concerning your life.

My son, pay attention to what I say;

turn your ear to my words.

Do not let them out of your sight,

keep them within your heart;

Proverbs 4:20-12 New International Version

Practice gratitude

Thank The Lord every single day. Try to thank Him for something different every chance you get. This practice will force your mind to start recognizing and appreciating things you might have once taken for granted. Change your perspective on the mundane and make everyday extraordinary.

Laugh often

Indulge in things that bring you joy. Relationships, food, hobbies, nature, it does not matter, soak up the pleasures in life that make you laugh until you cry. Laughter decreases stress and anxiety levels and increases mental health and performance.
