How Your Perspective Can Change Your Relationship With God

How Your Perspective Can Change Your Relationship With God

Since I was a little girl, I have always been fascinated with the days of creation. Like the earth was void, VOID! Nothingness at first, then galaxies, stars, planets, people with brains to build on top of those planets, animals, and living nature. As an adult woman, I still make sure I stop and look at the sky at least once a day and just breathe. It might seem spacey to you, but I’m still extremely fascinated with God’s creations. Let’s get down to specifics; since I was in Sunday School, my favorite day of creation has always been day one. Separating the light from the darkness. Day + night. I cannot even get my pea brain to master this concept; there are two times of day, one for productivity and one for rest. I think it just fascinates me because it’s like we look to the sun as our guide for the day, then the moon at night, but they both work in harmony on rotation because of God’s spoken word! *mind blown*

So we used to play this little psychological “game” at Texas Bible College, you had to answer a few questions honestly. The last question was always, what is your favorite day of creation, and why? Of course, without hesitation I say day one, and why, because I love the fact that nothing is hidden from the light. You can see everything in the daytime whether it wants to be seen or not. So I decided to explore my love for the daytime and the light even more. I talked to an instructor at TBC (and by talking to I mean, he did all the talking, and I ate all of the chocolate from his candy dish) He said, “What is the first image that comes to mind when people say they have an idea?” Bing! Naturally, a light bulb comes to mind. He went on to tell me my favorite day of creation always parallels to the way I view God because the light is my favorite thing God created I view Him as understanding. Just like how you can look out of the window during the daytime and see everything, that’s how I view God. Nothing is hidden from Him. He sees everything which a lot of people tend to forget.

That conversation helped me recognize that since I was young, I’ve always appreciated honesty and truth. Just being real about genuine emotions and bringing feelings to the light help me to gain clarity on what’s going on with those around me. When there are no facades, and there’s nothing to hold back, I feel like that’s when real healing can begin. So I like the light because it‘s powerful and the understanding the light brings can help to deliver clarity to certain situations. This is a challenge to take some time out of your day and think about your favorite day of creation. Why does this day stick out to you, and hopefully it can put your personal views about God into perspective.
