Motivation

Motivation is a lost art. With our millennial microwave generation, we want it now, and we want it with a little to no effort on our part. Lack of motivation leads to a discouraging mindset when we do not obtain the things we are craving immediately. Whether relationships or future fitness results, motivation is vital to a healthy and custom-made lifestyle.


Have a vision:

“Well, in ten years, I would like to be married, possibly have two maybe three children, and I hope to work in the medical field.” That does not help you work toward a goal! Be specific about the things you want. “In a decade, I will be a married brain surgeon with three children and a house on the hill.” There is power in writing down the vision you have for your life. Having tangible evidence of the things you would like to accomplish helps you work toward that goal. Trust me, without the vision, you will be flopping between ideas daily, and that is no way to spend your time.

Work backward:

So you have written down explicit goals for your life. Your goals are stepping stones toward the best version of yourself; you have to provide ways to climb up. I want to be a brain surgeon; you will want to get your life in order for medical school. As extreme as this analogy seems, brain surgeons do not just form overnight. The proper steps are implemented to make sure they save patient’s lives in the future years. They have to start somewhere to end up on top. Within your goals, write down the smaller steps it takes to achieve greatness.

Wake up earlier:

You would be surprised with what you can do with an extra sixty minutes in the morning. You make time for the things you want in life. I am a humongous advocate for sweet, sweet sleep, but being a boss babe means I need to utilize more hours in the day to get stuff done. If you are passionate about something, use those productive hours in the morning to perfect your craft.

Celebrate small victories:

You can benchpress five more pounds this week, yay you! That is something you could not do before, and it shows you are making progress toward your goal. The little things add up to significant results. Do not neglect the process! Post it on smedia, shout it from the rooftops, tell your BFFs. Even a micro-step in the right direction is progress.

One day at a time:

Every gym rat or boss babe you look up to you had to begin somewhere. I listen to a ton of podcasts of people I admire, and some of their experiences during the early part of their career straight up mortified me. When I see how far someone has come, it is an instant boost of motivation in my personal life.

Rachel Hollis says, “A goal is a dream with it’s work boots on.” Rachel, a boss babe I admire, is absolutely right. You cannot just have ideas, goals, and thoughts floating around in your head; they will never come to fruition. You can never be too specific when it comes to the things you want for your own life. Do not let unproductive days consume your time. Motivate yourself, and be the best version of you. Someone needs you to look up to.
