Five Ways To Protect Your Mental Energy

Five Ways To Protect Your Mental Energy

Sometimes we can get so caught up in making a healthy life for others; we forget to destress and mentally take care of ourselves. Functioning on autopilot is a dangerous way to live. Here are five tips to recharge and restore your clarity.

Do not always make yourself available to everyone

You can create a high level of codependency when you allow those around you to have full access to you or your skillsets. It is ok to say no; this will enable others to become more independent and focus on being a better version of themselves. It simultaneously frees up your time for the following step.

Rest

As simple as a nap seems, it is incredibly underrated. Taking time to rest in the form of sleep or your favorite hobby will help your mind and body recharge, and it will aid in full concentration for the following tasks at hand. Want to know our secret? We have mastered The Proper Staycation. Find out how you can rediscover your best self by merely staying at home.

Delegate responsibilities

Enneagram type ones unite! It can become difficult for us stronger personalities to hand off tasks when there is work to be done. Living by the "If you want something done right, you have to do it yourself." code only creates stress, and it can limit the quality of creativity and productivity. Try to delegate responsibility to those who understand how you might think. (hard-pill-to-swallow-alert) casual and less crucial tasks do not have to be executed with perfection. When someone offers a helping hand, reach out, take it, and allow yourself one less thing to worry about.

Minimize distractions

In this time, where more people seem to work from home, the distractions are almost limitless. Unfinished house projects become more noticeable, the laundry piles up, and do not even breathe a word about what's for dinner. Distractions everywhere we turn, but with a well-executed system, you can limit distractions and boost productivity.

  • Put the phone away

  • Try a crockpot meal

  • Set aside specific timeslots for household duties

Stop comparison

Comparison is a complicated concept to master. Do not allow your inner critic to run wild in your mental space. The majority of social media posts (ours included) are edited to perfection. The seemingly perfect mom you are always running into does not have a flawless life. A sophisticated system that works for you and your family takes time. Be inspired by others, but do not measure yourself to the standards of those you admire; you may be striving for an unobtainable goal.
